Today’s blog is about advertising – and how it’s changed so radically and so quickly in terms of delivery. No longer is TV where it’s at for many companies. We’ve just finished working on a commercial for Flip who make a superb flip cam product which means you can record your footage and then share it via your computer really easily in any format you want – brilliant for sending files to your nearest and dearest, for uploading on your social network sites, for making your own movies etc etc…
Obviously, it’s a Christmas gift pitch, so on a beautiful October Autumnal morning a few weeks back, with the leaves still on the trees (!) we dressed up for Christmas and decked the halls with boughs of holly! I cooked a full Christmas dinner (had to lift a turkey in and out of the oven about 21 times), and the kids got to open presents. Weird!
The upside was we got to eat the dinner when the shoot was finished – but what about the commercials themselves? Well, they will air on TV and satellite channels in the usual fashion, but the launch platform? YouTube of course… because there, the ads will be found today and they will receive immediate exposure. You can’t Sky Plus the programme and whizz through the ads on YouTube, after all …
Video on the web is the way forward.
